Rescinding of SRO 567(I)/2006

Vide SRO 563(I)2014 dated 26.06.2014 SRO 567(I)/2006 relating to conditional exemption of various items has been withdrawn. As already intimated, some of these exemptions have been made part of the schedules of the Customs Act, 1969 and some exemptions have altogether been withdrawn. Each item is therefore be required to be examined separately.

Amendment in SRO 499(I)/2013

Waiver of Regulatory Duty on Import of Potatoes

Federal Government has made an amendment in SRO 808(I)/2009 dated 19.09.2009 vide SRO ____(I)/2014 dated 02.05.2014, . Through this amendment, Federal Government has waived–off 25% regulatory duty on import of 200,000 metric tons for the period from 05.05.2014 to 31.07.2014.

Waiver of Condition of Insurance in respect of warehousing

Federal Board of Revenue vide SRO 202(I)/2014 dated 18.03.2014 has made amendments in Chapter XV(Warehousing)  of the Customs Rules, 2001. By virtue of this amendment condition of  furnishing insurance policy to obtain license for warehousing has been abolished. Previously applicant was required to provide comprehensive Insurance Policy covering risks of fire, burglary, riots, strikes etc.

Federal Government vide SRO 742(I)/2013 dated 28.08.2013 has imposed regulatory duty on sports utility vehicles @ 50% ad valorem. Similarly, all terrain vehicles (CBU) above 2000cc i.e jeeps etc (except electric hybrids) have also been subjected to 50% regulatory duty.
